A complete gut of a top-floor apartment in a very old building, rebuilt to give the clients as much openness and as much view as possible, with every single thing exactly the way they wanted it. That list included a walk-in fridge and freezer, a huge steam shower, and a swimming pool. On the eighth floor.

The pool was the fight. A very old building, an apartment below, and a body corporate that said no, all the way to the lawyers. I handled the case on my own and won it. And because you cannot dig down into somebody's ceiling, the pool steps up instead, with a mirror that reflects the mountain back at you.

The apartment itself was pokey rooms around an awkward space in the middle, and the roof couldn't be used. So the plan opened right up, and the long strip balcony became the outdoor space the roof couldn't be: big sliding doors, wooden decking, beautiful lighting. The main suite got the steam shower, separate toilet, double vanities and lots of cupboards. The walk-in fridge and freezer went in exactly as asked.

Design, choosing the builders, managing them, the engineers, the body corporate and the lawyers. Done on time and on budget.
